LTTE supporters in Sydney celebrated their so called Pongu Tamil (Tamil upsurge) on 6th July at Mason Park, Homebush, Sydney. The 'Inner West Weekly' - a local paper in Strathfield area, gave a blow to Tamil terrorist supporters in NSW publishing a front page banner heading  'Tiger Territory', and a two page scathing news article of the event. According to sources the Strathfield council initially cancelled the event due to the pressure from the anti LTTE groups in Sydney, however it is said that they have misled the council and staged event as a "Tamil Community event".

The front page carried a huge photo of LTTE leader Pabhakaran in safari suit and LITTLE GIRLS of Tamils living in Homebush (NSW) area dancing with the Tiger symbol. This newspaper covers Strathfield - Homebush area which includes several Federal electorates.
